I have done the necessary modifications to the code for it to run for both UBC785XLT AND the UBC780XLT.

Hi Garreth, UBC780xlt support is still experimental and until I manage to actually get a 780 it will remain so.

hi, will uniden commander help me programme my UBC780xlt, i read it was in experimental phase but that was couple years ago, has anything changed to support this scanner ?

I know you don't officially support the BC780XLT but I wondered if you could shed any light on my issue. I have Uniden Commander installed on Vista 64 and it crashes immediately upon connecting to the scanner. I have tried running it as Administrator and in Windows 98 compatibility mode. I also tried using different baud rates to connect with the scanner. Any ideas? I would love to be able to use your software because the display has failed on my scanner and the other virtual control programs I have tried will not run under a 64 bit OS.

@Rob: there is no option to switch to USB, the UBC3500 only communicates through serial port.

Hi Ray,

I can't really help you. I don't have a UBC780XLT to test your scenario. Besides that, I'm not actively (or passively for that matter) developing this tool at this moment in time.

I have installed Netframe and Uniden Commander.Uniden Commander is stable providing I don't set the UBC780XLT to RMT. As soon as I select RMT on the scanner a window opens reporting "Uniden Commander has encountered a problem and needs to close", and sends a report to Microsoft.
I would appreciate your help and suggestions.
Thank you.

Goodmorning sir,
my compliments for your program, that is the only free control software for our scanner.
I saw in UC that the function Channel programming isn't developed yet, so when I found the protocol I wrote the program for myself.
I'm only a student with two years of experience with C and VB6, the result is a little poor :-), but I decided to share this initial version with others.
It would be great for me if you would take a look to my program and write me a opinion, suggestions...

Elmer,

mvg, Kristof

Spencer,

First, there is not really a need to disconnect. You can either leave UC running or just close it without disconnecting, it will have no side effects what soever.

That said, I will look into the issue one of these days.

Reference my last comment: when I say Control Panel I mean the Uniden Commander panel, not the XP CP!!

Am considering using your s/w as ARC785 is too complex. However; when I go to disconnect, using the File tab, the Control Panel picture breaks up,the process freezes and the only way to restart/disconnect is to use Task Manager to end the task and then to reload using the desktop icon.

I am using Windows XP with an AMD 2813mhz X86 Family 16Model5 Stepping 2 Authentic processor with 3GB of main memory.

Hallo Elmer

Hi Liam,

I'm quite pleased with my 785. It's fast, has a lot of options, is easy to use, and can be remote controlled using my UnidenCommander software :) So, yes, I would recommend it!

Hi,

Thanks for that, but I had a brief look and couldn't find the control codes.

I'd like to try Uniden Commander but I see it requires NET to run and I'm reluctant to install that just for one program. Any chance of a standalone version?

Cheers,

Hi,

I've downloaded your software but have to wait for an RS232 cable before I can try it out. As a programmer myself I'm interested in where you got the control codes for the UBC785XLT as I can't find them on the net.

Cheers,

Hi Mike,

I currently have experimental support for the BC780 (I don't own one), but it is proving extremely difficult to program for a scanner that I don't own. Testing for the BC780 is now done by a friend and takes loads of time and back-and-forth mailing.
I am perfectly willing to add support for the BC250, but I need a specimen to work with. And as this is a hobby project for the moment, I don't have any intention of buying one in the near future.
I am thinking about putting UnidenCommander in the open source community, then maybe others can add support for scanners of their choice.

I hope to hav answered your question, even though it may not be satisfactory.

Kind regards, Elmer
